Towing Passaic County NJ · dispatched from Linden · $149 flat booking fee · $129 online
Passaic County runs from the Route 3 malls in Clifton up through Paterson and Wayne to the lakes and ridges along the New York line. Our yard is in Linden, in Union County, so we are not the truck around the corner here.

Towing in Passaic County, NJ from a dispatcher who tells you how far away the truck really is
Towing Passaic County NJ is a NJ towing services provider that answers (908) 666-3168 for Clifton, Passaic, Paterson, Wayne and the towns beyond, sends the closest truck it has, and states the drive time from Linden before you say yes, at one flat booking fee for the whole county.
Passaic County is shaped like an hourglass on its side, with a crowded southern end around Clifton, Passaic and Paterson and a long, wooded north that climbs toward Greenwood Lake. The two halves meet around Wayne, where Route 23, Route 46 and I-80 knot together.
We run towing Passaic County NJ calls from a yard in Linden, so we would rather be exact about time than vague about it. Call (908) 666-3168, or book online for $129 instead of $149.
Forty minutes, said up front
From Linden to Clifton or Passaic city is roughly 38 to 40 minutes by the Parkway or Route 21. Paterson is about 40, and Wayne a little more.
The dispatcher gives that number on the first call. If a truck is already working north of Newark, the figure drops, and you hear the shorter one instead.
One fee from Botany Village to Ringwood
The $149 booking fee pays for the truck reaching you and the hook-up, wherever you are in the county. The miles from your car to its destination are quoted separately, before dispatch.
Nothing is added because the pickup is far from our yard. Distance from Linden changes the wait, not the booking fee.
The north is booked, not rushed
West Milford, Ringwood and the highland roads are an hour or more from us. We do tow there, mostly as planned moves: a car to a dealer, a project car out of a garage, a dead truck from a lake house.
For a roadside emergency up there, a garage in the valley will usually beat us. The dispatcher says so rather than letting you wait.
Photographed, receipted, licensed
Each car is photographed before it is loaded and again after it is set down. The work is covered by our New Jersey licence and insurance.
You get an itemized receipt with our name on it, which is what an insurer, a fleet manager or a roadside plan will ask for.
Give the road and a landmark, and ask how long. You get the real answer before anything is booked.
Call (908) 666-3168Passaic County, town by townHow a Linden yard covers Passaic County: three bands, three honest answers
We divide Passaic County into a southern band we reach in about 38 to 45 minutes, a Wayne and Pompton band that runs a bit longer, and a highland band past Pompton Lakes that takes an hour or more and is best booked ahead.
The trip north from Linden follows the Parkway past Newark and the Oranges or runs up Route 21 beside the Passaic River. Either way, the first Passaic County town you reach is Clifton, and the rest of the county opens out behind it.
Because the county is long and narrow, a single travel time would be a lie. So we quote in three bands, and inside each band the dispatcher checks the board for a closer truck.
The southern band: Clifton, Passaic, Paterson
This is the busiest and most built-up part of the county, and the part we reach fastest. Clifton and Passaic city sit about 38 to 40 minutes from the yard, and downtown Paterson about 40.
Most of our Passaic County work lands here: Route 3 breakdowns near Clifton Commons, dead cars on narrow Passaic blocks, and crash tows off Route 20 and McLean Boulevard.
The middle band: Wayne, Totowa, Little Falls, the Haledons
Wayne, Totowa and Little Falls are about 40 to 45 minutes from Linden, with Hawthorne and the Haledons in the same range. This band holds Willowbrook Mall, William Paterson University and the Route 23 and Route 46 interchange.
Calls here are a mix of highway breakdowns on I-80 and Route 46 and quieter driveway jobs in the residential streets.
The highland band: Pompton Lakes to Greenwood Lake
Above Pompton Lakes the county turns into reservoirs, state parks and two-lane mountain roads. West Milford, Ringwood, Wanaque and Bloomingdale are an hour or more away for us.
We treat this band as scheduled work. Tell us the day and the window, and a truck is planned for it, with the mileage quoted in advance.
Not sure which band you are in? Say the town or the road, and the dispatcher will tell you.
Ask for the drive timeEmergency towing in Passaic County: crashes, blocked lanes and breakdowns after dark
For a crash, a stall in a travel lane or a night breakdown in the southern half of Passaic County, call (908) 666-3168; a live dispatcher sends the nearest truck and tells you the arrival time honestly, and farther north the dispatcher will say if a closer local garage is the better call.
Emergencies in Passaic County gather where the traffic does: the Route 3 and Route 46 merges in Clifton, the I-80 approaches to Paterson and Totowa, and Route 23 through Wayne. Our line is staffed at every hour, and an emergency tow is priced the same as a planned one.
After a collision in Clifton or Paterson
Once police release the car, you decide where it goes. Name your body shop and the driver takes it there, not to a lot that bills by the day.
The car is photographed before it moves, which helps when the adjuster calls. Allow about 40 minutes from our yard, less if a truck is already nearby.
Stuck in a lane on Route 46 or I-80
Hazards on, and get out on the side away from traffic only if it is safe. Wait behind the guardrail and give the road, the direction and the last exit or ramp.
Our trucks work Route 46, Route 3, Route 23 and I-80 directly. Turnpike and Parkway shoulders are served by the Authority's authorized garages. Book with us and we take the car from the exit or the garage's lot.
Midnight on Market Street
A no-start outside a Paterson restaurant or a flat on Main Avenue in Passaic at night is still answered by a person. There is no overnight premium.
If a jump or a spare will get you home, that is what gets sent, at one flat price.
Storm water along the Passaic River
Low streets near the river in Paterson, Little Falls and Wayne can flood quickly in heavy rain. A car that has sat in water goes on a flatbed and nobody should try the key.
Tell the dispatcher how deep the water got. It decides which truck is sent.
Safe first, then the call. An emergency costs the same as any other tow.
Emergency dispatchHow a call runsTowing and roadside work we do across Passaic County, NJ
In Passaic County we handle local, emergency, scheduled, flatbed, wheel-lift, accident, fleet and heavy-duty, motorcycle and long-distance towing, winch-outs, and four roadside jobs at one flat price each: jump start, flat tire change, car lockout and fuel delivery.
Local towing
A dead sedan in Allwood to a shop on Van Houten Avenue, or a van from Totowa to a dealer on Route 46. Booking fee plus the miles, said on the call.
Emergency towing
Route 3 stalls, I-80 breakdowns near Paterson, a fender-bender at the Route 23 and 46 interchange. The nearest truck goes once you agree.
Scheduled towing
The right fit for West Milford, Ringwood and the lake towns. Pick a day, get a window and a mileage figure in advance, no rushing.
Flatbed towing
AWD, electric, lowered and luxury cars, and anything with damage. All four wheels on the deck, strapped by the tires.
Accident towing
Winched if it has to be, photographed for the claim, and delivered to the body shop you pick in the county or outside it.
Fleet & heavy-duty
Box trucks and tractors on the Route 46 and Route 3 industrial strips, delivery vans in Paterson and Totowa. Accounts on net terms.
Jump, tire, lockout, fuel
One flat price each with no mileage. Mall lots at Willowbrook, campus lots at William Paterson, curbside in Passaic city.
Long distance towing
From Passaic County down the shore, into the city, or out of state on one flatbed, with tolls built into the quote.
Each of these has its own detailed page: emergency towing, flatbed towing, accident towing, heavy duty towing and roadside assistance. On the phone you only need to describe what the car is doing. The dispatcher chooses the truck.
Unsure what you need? Describe the problem and let dispatch decide.

We work Passaic County as six areas, from Clifton in the south to the lake country in the north, and each area has its own page with the roads, landmarks, typical calls and the honest drive time from our Linden yard.
Clifton
The first town we reach, about 38 to 40 minutes out: Route 3, Route 46, Parkway Exits 153 to 157, Main Avenue, Van Houten Avenue, Allwood, Botany Village and Clifton Commons.
Passaic city
Dense streets along the river: Main Avenue, Monroe Street, Passaic Avenue, St. Mary's General Hospital and the top end of Route 21, roughly 38 to 40 minutes from the yard.
Paterson
The county seat, about 40 minutes: Market Street, Main Street, the Great Falls and Hinchliffe Stadium, Route 19, Route 20 and McLean Boulevard, the I-80 exits, and the Riverside and Eastside sections.
Wayne, Totowa and Little Falls
The crossroads of the county, 40 to 45 minutes: Route 23, Route 46, I-80, Willowbrook Mall, William Paterson University and the Route 23 and 46 interchange.
Hawthorne and the Haledons
North of Paterson: Hawthorne, Haledon, Prospect Park and North Haledon, with Goffle Road, Belmont Avenue and Route 208, about 45 minutes from Linden.
The northern highlands
Long runs, booked ahead: West Milford, Ringwood, Bloomingdale, Pompton Lakes and Wanaque, along Route 23 north, the Greenwood Lake Turnpike and Skyline Drive. An hour or more from the yard.
Open your area for the local detail, or just call and give us the road.
Call (908) 666-3168Full Passaic County service areaThe Passaic County roads that break down the most cars, and how we work each one
We dispatch directly to Routes 3, 19, 20, 21, 23, 46 and 208 and to I-80 and I-287 in Passaic County; Parkway shoulders at Exits 153 to 157 in Clifton are handled by the Authority's authorized garages, and we take the car from the exit or their lot.
Route 3 and Route 46 through Clifton
Route 3 comes in from the Meadowlands past Clifton Commons and meets Route 46 and the Parkway in a tangle of ramps on the Clifton side. Merge crashes, overheated engines in stop-and-go traffic and tire failures on the ramps are the usual calls. Say which road you are on, the direction and the closest store or ramp, and the truck plans its entry.
I-80 from Paterson to Wayne
I-80 cuts east to west across the middle of the county, dropping into Paterson, then Totowa and Wayne before heading into Morris County. Heavy trucks and fast commuters share it, and a breakdown in the right lane is dangerous. Give the direction and the last exit number, then wait behind the barrier until the truck calls.
Route 23 from Wayne to West Milford
In Wayne, Route 23 is a busy retail road that meets Route 46 near Willowbrook Mall. North of Pompton Lakes it climbs into Kinnelon, Butler and West Milford, with long gaps between exits and steep grades. The south end we reach in about 45 minutes; the far north takes well over an hour, so plan accordingly.
Route 19, Route 20 and McLean Boulevard
Route 19 is the short link between the Clifton interchanges and Paterson. Route 20, which becomes McLean Boulevard, runs beside the Passaic River along Paterson's east side. Both carry heavy local traffic, and the river side sees crashes in wet weather.
Garden State Parkway Exits 153 to 157
The Parkway passes through Clifton with a cluster of exits for Route 3, Route 46 and the local streets. On the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway the shoulder itself is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages; book with us anyway, and once the authorized truck has the car off the highway we take it from the exit or the garage's lot to the shop or driveway you choose, at the same flat quoted price.
Route 21, Route 208 and I-287
Route 21 follows the river up from Newark and ends in Passaic city, which makes it our most direct road into the county. Route 208 crosses Hawthorne at Goffle Road on its way to Bergen County. I-287 skirts the western side through Pompton Lakes and Wanaque, the gateway to the highland towns.
On a Passaic County highway now? Get behind the rail, then call with the road, the direction and the last exit.
Call from the roadsideWhat towing in Passaic County costs: one booking fee, mileage quoted before dispatch
A tow anywhere in Passaic County is a flat $149 booking fee for dispatch and hook-up, or $129 when booked online, plus the mileage to the place you choose, quoted on the call; roadside jobs are one flat price each and nights and holidays cost nothing extra.
Our yard being in Linden does not raise your booking fee in Clifton or Wayne. The fee is flat, and the only moving part is the mileage from your car to the drop-off.
So a car from Passaic city to a mechanic on Main Avenue is a small number, and a car from Ringwood to a dealer in Union County is a bigger one. Either way, you hear it before the truck is released.
| What | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Booking fee by phone | $149 | Dispatch and hook-up, any hour |
| Booking fee online | $129 | $20 off when you book it yourself |
| Mileage to your destination | Quoted on the call | Before the truck moves. You pick the shop. |
| Jump start · tire · lockout · fuel | One flat price each | No mileage. Tried first when it can solve it. |
| Winch or dollies | Only if the car will not roll | Named before the work, you decide |
| Night, weekend, holiday, fuel surcharge | None | 3 a.m. costs what 3 p.m. costs |
| Storage or release fee | None | The car goes to your shop, not a yard |
What moves the number
Distance from pickup to destination is the main thing. The vehicle comes next: an AWD SUV or an EV needs a flatbed, while a box truck or a tractor needs a heavy-duty unit priced on the call.
Condition matters too. A car that rolls and steers loads fast, while one down an embankment on a highland road may need a winch, which you hear about first.
What never shows up on the bill
No extra for nights, Sundays or holidays, and no fuel surcharge. No charge for a passenger in the cab.
No storage fee and no release fee, because the car goes straight where you asked. The full breakdown is on the prices page.
How a Passaic County tow goes, from the first call to the drop-off
You call or book online, the dispatcher finds you on the Passaic County map and gives you one flat price and an honest drive time from the nearest truck, the driver calls on approach, photographs and loads the car, and delivers it with an itemized receipt.
- 1
Say where you are
Call (908) 666-3168 or book online for $129. A street and cross street, a mall entrance, a campus lot or an I-80 exit is enough.
You will also be asked what you drive, what went wrong and where the car should end up.
- 2
Hear the price and the real wait
The dispatcher quotes the booking fee, the mileage and any extra work such as a winch. You also hear the drive time, around 40 minutes for Clifton or Paterson and longer the farther north you are.
No truck moves until you say yes. In the highlands, this is when a scheduled window is agreed.
- 3
The driver calls when close
On a highway, wait behind the guardrail, not in the car. In a lot or on a side street, stay close enough to wave the driver in.
If anything changes while you wait, call back on the same number.
- 4
Photos, delivery, receipt
The car is photographed at both ends of the trip, and you can ride along free. You get an itemized receipt at the drop-off, ready for an insurer or a roadside plan.
Four steps, whether the call comes from Botany Village or Greenwood Lake.

What Passaic County drivers ask before they book a tow
The common questions are how long a truck takes to come up from Linden, whether the fee changes between Clifton and West Milford, what happens on the Parkway, and whether the car goes to the shop you choose; the answers follow.
Are you actually located in Passaic County?
No. Our yard is in Linden, in Union County. We send trucks north into Passaic County every day, and the dispatcher on (908) 666-3168 tells you the real drive time rather than pretending we are around the corner.
How long does it take a truck to get to Clifton?
About 38 to 40 minutes from the yard, by the Parkway or Route 21. If one of our trucks is already working north of Newark, the wait can be shorter, and you are told which.
What about Paterson, is it much longer?
Not much. Downtown Paterson is about 40 minutes from Linden. The Riverside and Eastside sections are close to the same.
Can you get to Wayne or Little Falls quickly?
Figure on 40 to 45 minutes. Wayne near the Route 23 and 46 interchange is at the longer end of that, Little Falls near the Essex line a bit shorter.
Do you tow in West Milford and Ringwood?
Yes, but it is an hour or more from our yard, so we handle it mainly as scheduled work. For a roadside emergency up there, a local garage will often reach you first, and the dispatcher will say so honestly.
Does the booking fee go up because I am far from Linden?
No. It is $149 by phone or $129 if you book online, in every Passaic County town. The mileage is measured from your car to its destination and quoted on the call.
I broke down on the Parkway near the Clifton exits. What now?
On the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway the shoulder itself is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages; book with us anyway, and once the authorized truck has the car off the highway we take it from the exit or the garage's lot to the shop or driveway you choose, at the same flat quoted price.
Will you come out to I-80 near Paterson or Totowa?
Yes, I-80 is a road our trucks work directly. Tell the dispatcher your direction and the last exit you passed, then wait behind the barrier until the driver calls.
Towing near me in Passaic County: where our nearest truck actually is
If you search for towing near me in Passaic County, the honest answer from us is that our yard is in Linden, about 38 to 45 minutes from most of the southern and middle county, and the dispatcher checks for a closer truck already working the area before quoting.
A towing near me search in Clifton or Paterson turns up plenty of listings with local-sounding addresses, and some of them are just call centers. We would rather tell you where we really are, and let you decide whether 40 minutes works.
Near me in Clifton and Passaic
About 38 to 40 minutes from the yard, the closest we get in this county. Route 21 and the Parkway both bring a truck straight in.
Near me in Paterson and Hawthorne
Downtown Paterson is about 40 minutes and Hawthorne about 45. A truck already north of Newark can cut that, and the dispatcher will look.
Near me in Wayne and the Pompton valley
Wayne, Totowa and Little Falls run 40 to 45 minutes, Pompton Lakes nearer an hour. Past that, in West Milford or Ringwood, we are not near, and we plan the job as a booked run.
What to tell us so the truck finds you
A road and cross street, a mall or campus lot, or an exit and direction. Add your vehicle and the destination, and the full quote comes in the same call.
Ask where our closest truck is right now. The answer is free.

Why Passaic County drivers call a Linden dispatcher who tells them the drive time first
Because a truck that is 40 minutes away and says so is more useful than a listing that promises fifteen and shows up in fifty, and one call to {{phone}} gets you the honest number, the flat fee and the mileage before you agree to anything.
We are a Union County outfit that works north into Passaic County along the Parkway, Route 21 and Route 3. That makes Clifton, Passaic and Paterson regular territory and West Milford an occasional one. If our wait is too long for your situation, the dispatcher will tell you plainly. You can also book online for $129 instead of $149, read the county town by town on the service area page, or see the whole bill on the prices page.
